Lenovo's AI event sounds like it was grounded, opting to focus on what the real current state of AI is: it's been here all along, people just didn't realize it. It's not the future, it's the present. \nAnd most importantly, that AI isn't here to replace workers outright, but to augment, transform, and elevate job roles. \n\n
This and the subsequent statement by VP Sara Duterte highlight the increasing role of AI in the spread of disinformation and manipulative propaganda in politics. Make no mistake about it, this is not a partisan issue, as pointed out by Doc Ligot, as all sides of the political spectrum are taking to AI to further their agenda in one form or another. Educating the public about AI is of urgent importance and we need more people serving as champions of responsible and ethical AI. \n\n
This is a hilarious take on how glass design is making a comeback, with the introduction of Apple's new OSes (\"version 26\", for 2026). I personally love flat design, but yeah, it robbed companies of individuality. \nIt's interesting how design is to software development as fashion is to the clothing industry. Trends come and go, and some often come back with a vengeance. Flat Design has lived for so long though, and hell yeah, we need a refresh! \n\n
Oh yes, please! This is mainly on the back of the Konektadong Pinoy Bill which has passed both legislative houses, and now awaits PBBM's signature. This will open up our internet service market to more players and market competition. A lot of tech communities I'm aware of are backing the bill and are set to release a joint statement soon. \nThere are certain groups opposing it though, on the claims that it will compromise our national security. Not surprisingly, PLDT and Globe are among the big players who are strongly against it. \nWhere do I stand? I'm all for it! PLDT and Globe have duopolized our market for far too long and more competition will hopefully bring out the best in them. A more inclusive PH internet landscape will further boost innovation and economic progress through accessibility of information and digital services. This is going to be increasingly crucial with each advancement in fields such as AI and quantum computing. \nIt's a waiting game now. Will PBBM sign or veto the bill? \n\n
The brain is similar to a muscle, whenever you stop using it, starts to \"atrophy\". This is something that can happen to software developers, just ask Primeagen. \nI'd argue, though, that if you know how to use AI to augment gaps in your knowledge, it'll actually help improve your cognitive abilities. Like if it weren't for AI, I wouldn't have been able to absorb the high level concepts of quantum computing as fast as I did. Use AI for specifically for learning and understanding new concepts, it'll help you build your mental muscle. Use it to do all your work for you, it'll do the opposite. \nAs an aside, this is also one of the reasons I decided to build this newsletter. I love writing, it's been a hobby of mine before the social media age. Lately, I had been feeling that my writing skills have regressed very badly since I started relying on AI. Forcing myself to write weekly for the newsletter is allowing me to exercise my creative muscles, even if that means writing this in the wee hours of a Monday morning (time check now is 2:47 AM). I encourage everyone to do the same, be it maintaining a private journal or blogging...just start writing. Give yourself a chance to be creative without the aid of AI. \n\n More News\n

\n | \n Subscriber Corner\nhello po kuya devs, i want to pursue became software engineer saan po ba ako magfofocus na programming language. pahingi naman po ng advice po thank you po If you haven't yet, start tuning into my podcast. A lot of the advice I usually give is more often than not already an episode. 😁 \nIn terms of programming language, the frontrunners would be JavaScript, Python, Java, and PHP. They each have their use cases, so do some research and determine which path you want to pursue. Just choose one and commit to it. Don't feel FOMO on the other languages. Most languages share the same fundamental programming concepts, but with different syntax, as the way they're implemented often reflects the problem domain they're solving. So focus on the fundamentals in the beginning: variables, control flow, functions, etc. \nGood luck! \nDo you have a question or a message for Kuya Dev? Send them! (I will choose a few to feature here each week, you will remain anonymous of course.) \n | \n\n |
